I just received an e-mail from a former client who writes for a newspaper in another city. Periodically, this individual writes articles about San Antonio, Texas;, so they sent me a note inquiring about our "insider knowledge of the city" and the "secret, special places" that we take clients. The Riverwalk restaurants were of particular interest.
The writer was so disappointed when I told her that with our work schedule in the current market; dining out (especially at 10pm when we have finished negotiating deals, searching properties and producing ad copy), with our clients isn't always possible - especially when they lead very busy lives as well. We're all lucky to find an hour or so for an occasional lunch with them!
At the end of a 12-14 hour day, I don't often feel like going out and when I do, it's generally not to an exciting spot on the Riverwalk - 40 minutes away! All those steps in my heels?
Maybe I can get Steve to carry me? But...
What about our poor Buyers who have been hoofing it for hours - from house to house?
Instead, my new endeavor is to gain such control of my early evening time that Steve and I are able to scout out the best "Happy Hours" for our people (a truly fun-loving group), and getting those "secret special places" in a map format so that they may be geographically located!
Let's face it, whether you're Buying or Selling, some extra Happiness is truly necessary at times.
I know that this is the type of "insider knowledge of the city" that our people can really use!!!

It appears that you are the "go to" for the area.......your considerations are valid and after pulling a plow all day, you deserve to call the shots for the rest of the evening.........

Hi Richie-
Nice to see you!
It would be a double bonus to have more fun places to take our fun people. We do love real estate, but we all need some time to enjoy other conversations!
Sara
Oh yes, to find that time to spend with friends. We live 25 minutes from town and after a full day, which turns into a full week, I put the blinders on and I'm heading for home. I can give people that kind of information if they're interested but they'll have to do it without us on week nights! I'm wishing you as much 'happiness' as you can handle Sara (and more, of course!)!
I am so guilty of working too much and not enjoying what Austin has to offer. Then when clients ask me about the local fare or attractions, I really don't have much that I can say firsthand. I'm trying to work on that! (but I always have time for Schlitterbahn!)
I love Wild Fish in the Stone Oak area, happy hour every day 4-7 and great food!
Sara - sounds to me like he was giving you an opportunity to write up some interesting blog posts and pass them on to him - that could be great press for you. Or am I not getting this one?
I do understand being totally bushed - it's going on 8 and I have had little time for anything but business this last few days. Ahhhhhhhhhh- my husband just brought me a glass of wine so I don't need to go out anywhere (not like I would!!!!!)
Hi Wanda!
This is indeed a busy summer season and we are all feeling pretty blessed with that.., with a little extra "happiness", we'd be positively giddy. Hope that all that is coming your way, too!
Hi Shelley- Our day will come and maybe we'll see ou at Schlitterbahn on sunny afternoon - and there will be plenty of that!

Hi Melissa-
We get out there sometimes, but it is a really noisy spot. Maybe, too happy?
Sara
Hi Anna-
Maybe, I'm incorrect, but I think that I was really being asked to do someone else's job - the one that their boss expects them to do for their paycheck... I'm happy to help, but I've lots of my own work to do for my great Buyers and Sellers.
Your husband sounds like a gem and deserving of some serious credit. Hail to the man who understands "job security"!

I like your post Sara and even though VB works as hard as he does he still finds time to go to Asia, California, New Mexico, Arizona & more!
I work hard so I can play hard!

Howdy and evening to you Sara
Its sure a hoot that some folks out there, thing folks in the Real Estate Industry go out parting and living it up at night. Some of them just don't understand that we work mighty hard in each of our fields.
Have a good one

Will be relying on you to tell us all where the hot spots are when we converge on San Antonio.
Sara....I'm looking forward to seeing the "Secret Special Places" list. Don't get so consumed that you can't dial down and enjoy.
Hi Sara you do need to find some time to relax at the same time I am happy your business is good. I agree with Anna seem like it might have been an opportunity to showcase your area and get some free press.
Hi Sara,
Great idea, we love happy hours around town...Sometimes the appetizers fill us up, and who needs dinner. Thanks and have a great weekend. (I enjoyed your French comment on our post) Oh La La.
I like the idea of going from place to place eating appetizers. Not much of a drinker but a great socializer.
Sara, being busy is a good thing and finding an hour or two in a day for ourselves and others is part of the package.
San Antonio has alot going for it.
