We hear a lot about Sellers not having enough time to make small chan
ges in their house.
Often it's not the time, it's the expense and the belief that it won't really matter THAT much to the Buyer.
I promise you, the small items do add up in effect.
Case in point: Those outdated brass door knobs that so many people have. Do they look as up-to-date as this?

If not, you may want to go online to handlesets.com and get some new door hardware that reflects the stylish paint color and decor that you have - you do have those don't you? If not, that's the subject of another post...

If you do, one day UPS could deliver an ugly brown box like this one, and when you open it up, it may be filled with other little boxes (OOOH! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - for the doors).

This is the tale of how, in a mere couple of hours (and about $375 dollars later), Steve and I got more stylish door hardware for our home that is currently on the market.
Now that we have showings, sometimes we hear that Buyers don't like the usable space in our backyard (trust me, it's always something!), but the interior coloration and finish always gets top marks.
Now, if one of the second showings would just result in an offer!

Good Job and Good Luck. I guarantee you it would take me waaaaaaay more than 2 hours to switch out even one door handle!
Smart that you were willing to do the little things that make a huge difference! I'm confident you will continue to look at your home with a buyer's eye and get it sold.
Sara and Steve, you are so right, the little things make a big difference. And new knobs and handles don't cost that much. Your sellers are lucky to have you!

Hi Lisa- I got Steve to do it. He's my secret weapon. I'm pretty handy, but it would have taken me longer, too!
Hi Vic- Looking "with a buyer's eye" . It always helps. Thanks for the well-wishes!

Hi Barb-
Realtors appreciate the little things... Buyers sometimes don't even understand the elements that go into creating the effect - just whether they like it or not. Thanks for stopping by to comment!

That's a great way to put it so the seller can get things in perspective. So many times, people who aren't handy get overwhelmed with some minor tasks.
We also recommend changing out the dated brass hardware in a home prior to listing. In our area the most popular finishes continue to be oil-rubbed bronze and brushed/satin nickel. Sometimes people aren't aware how easy it is to do this, and what a substantial difference it makes. Good luck in selling your home!
Sara and Steve, changing out outdated hardware in a house is certainly a small price to pay to help get your house sold. It will give a house a new fresh look!
