Although I'm not a big fan of author Suze Orman, every time I see this book title of hers (The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous and Broke), I have to smile a little. But not as much as when I see a photo of the great northwest San Antonio home that was just placed under contract by one of our clients, who is indeed young and fabulous. Inspirational even.

A little reminder to the Young and Fabulous: Just because you are twenty or thirty-something, doesn't mean that this is not the time to make strong and conservative financial choices that, when well-planned, will provide the basis of your financial future. The future is coming and trust me; finances will be a part of it.
If you are lucky enough to live in an area with really economical housing like San Antonio, when are you going to make your move from Renter to Homeowner? It doesn't have to be now, but you do have to make a plan. What's it going to be?
Even if you think that you're a couple of years away from home ownership, right now, it's time to call your Realtor® and make a plan. A plan for your life? Now THAT"S fabulous!

All of our children are in college, how I wish they were just a bit older to take advantage of these great prices.
Hi Tammy-
I know that you mean. I think that everyone who is in a position to purchase should be seriously considering it. These interest rates and home prices are incredible!

Thank you for sharing an informative and helpful blog.
Sara, at least the younger buyers in San Antonia have affordable choices! They are very lucky.
I bought my first home at 19 . . . married to a veteran, we made good use of the VA no-down program, and purchased a home priced at $65,000 -- it was a HUGE amount back then. But, we stopped paying rent.
Great post. Our home prices are moving up and now with the flood...well it will be an interesting time of supply and demand.
I like Suze Orman a lot. If I ever move from San Diego, it will be to either Seattle or San Antonio. I wonder what it is about cities that begin with S.
Hi John- You're welcome! Thanks for reading.
Hi Patricia- Sometimes, I'm not sure that they know just how lucky they are.
Hi Carla- I bought my first home at 18. Hasn't it made an amazing difference in your life? By the way, VA loans are very popular here as this is the number 1 city that former military come to retire.
Hi Diane- You make a good point that supply and demand are flexible forces. I think sometimes people don't understand that the same opportunities and interest rates are no available on a year-to-year basis!
Hi Jim- I confess that I like it when anyone tells a large audience to seize control of their lives and stop spending on things that have no lasting value... Regarding the cities that begin with S: Singapore, South Padre Island, Seville, Sorrento. There are a lot of choices. I think that you are more decisive than I, though I'm sure that we would all have a lot of fun if you two moved here to San Antonio!
