Emu, Too - Wordless Wednesday

San Antonio Emu

Here in The Texas Hill Country, just 10 minutes away from the civilization of San Antonio, you see the most unexpected roadside attractions.

Today, Steve and I were out previewing and taking some photos of a home that is being built for one of our clients, we spotted this Emu.  Hi coloring was gorgeous, but he was somewhat camera shy and I didn't want to annoy him (they will get grouchy...).

Here he is in all his gray and blue-green glory:

How on earth did you know this was an emu - in the middle of Texas?  I would have been running to the Audubon society for identification.

I agree that you do see some unexpected things in San Antonio.  When I was there last year I was walking from my hotel to the convention center and spotted an albino peacock on someone front lawn.  I didn't see any emus though!

I wouldn't have had a clue that it was an emu either, but it's a cool looking bird.

Steve and Sarah - if Tammie thinks they are scary at this distance she see them up close and personal. I will try and find the picture I used some time ago to share here.

Hi Sara, nice photo.  I've been chased by an Emu before, and boy are they fast!
