Wordless Wednesday - Seen along the road

Yesterday, I was caught at a light along the Loop 1604 frontage road here in north central San Antonio and as I looked out my car window, I spied some bluebonnets and other wildflowers.

Texas Bluebonnet in San Antonio

A lot of time, newcomers to San Antonio, Texas don't realize how excited we get about the wildflowers - the city mowing schedule works around them!  This photo shows how green our area will be for until about Thanksgiving when we have our "dry" season.  It's a truly beautiful area!

Nice pic.  This makes me so homesick for the south.  We don't even have grass medians here in Vegas.

That is always a positive sign!

The wildflowers are starting to pop in this area too. Such a joyous sight to see aren't they...

Sara and Steve,

We love those blue bonnets, here we start spring with California poppies and lupines.  They let us know spring is here.!  Thanks

I have always missed the bluebonnets since we don't have them out here. However, I've noticed that in addition to ice plant this year, there are a lot of lupines along the freeways. I think someone drove along all the freeways late last year and threw lupine seeds out the window, ala Johnny Appleseed.
