iTexas Realty Co. Blog: Buyer Optimism Returns to the Market!

Buyer Optimism Returns to the Market!

This evening, Steve and I are at a large hotel. We are doing our Mandatory Continuing Education. Despite the scintillating class that we attended today on Legal and Ethical issues, Steve is tired and hanging out in our room.

Being the independent woman that I am, I head off to listen to some music and have a glass of champagne. While standing at the elevator bank with a fellow traveling gal, I meet a young man, about 12 years old and all of four-foot-two, wearing a suit and tie.

He pauses in front of me - I assume to ask directions, but instead he queries "Are you taken, or could we go out sometime?" I gather my wits to politely respond "Thank you, but I'm taken."

The shocked woman next to me, who is also waiting for the elevator just laughed and pronounced it the cutest thing that she'd ever seen!  Me, too.  It's been almost 20 years since my son was that tender age.

I have to say, If we have this much fearless optimism in the market going forward, you can only imagine the home sales that we'll all be making!

That is a great story!

So did that happen before or after the champagne????  Too funny.  And what a deadbeat hubby.  Serves him right if you had taken up the "gentleman's" offer.

Sara,

That young man will make a great salesperson someday.  Maybe sooner than we think...

Reminds me of the time I went to an Open House all by myself back in 2001. The Realtor was not having a good open house and we started talking about the neighborhood, improvements, the market, etc. About 30 minutes later, I excused myself to go. She thanked me for coming by and keeping her company. Then she asked me to marry her since I was such a personable man. I told her that I was in a 7-year relationship with my Domestic Partner. She said, "Well, I just might be the chick you'd switch for." I still laugh about that every time I go to an open house and there's a female agent having a poor open house.

Sara, We love this story, what a hoot!  And a great twist on optimism.  Sometimes you have to look for optimism a little harder, it is always there.  Thanks for sharing!
