The new Stone Oak Library will be open in 2011. To be built on a 10 acre site on Wilderness Oak, just east of the newly expanded Blanco Road (near Wilderness Oak Elementary School in the North East Independent School District). The new library is a source of great excitement for area residents and provides just another reason for home buyers to gravitate to buying homes in Stone Oak.

This public library will serve the Stone Oak and North-Central area of San Antonio, Texas. Initial funding is provided by a generous donation from the Parman family.
Other information, as it becomes available, can be found at the new library's web site: www.StoneOakLibrary.org

Hi Sara: I wonder how useful libraries will be in the future. They are getting less and less use with the internet.
:)
It's so nice to see that some communities are still building libraries, and contrary to Matt's post, new libraries have lots of Internet access. With billions and billions of web pages, it's getting more and more difficult to find what you want on the Internet. A good librarian can easily find what is needed, and many of them are well-versed in Internet.
Hi Jim and Matt- Interesting to see your opinions side by side. My aunt drove the bookmobile for many years. When I was a kid, we lived at the local library. When I was about eight, my mother was finishing her masters and we switched over to the library at the university. The lack of children's books and huge Egyptology section, created for me, an endless love of books - and I confess that there is a lot to the tactile nature of the volume itself. Thanks for your comments! --Sara in San Antonio
