Speechless Sunday - Theater in Barcelona

Theater in Barcelona

The weekend has not gone quite to plan.....

The skies have been gray, but photographs needed to be taken for some properties.  It's been a bit of work to make them look their best - weather permitting.

When I finished, I looked through some other photos just to relax and found this one of a theater on a side street in Barcelona to share with you.

I am confident that this building has no bad angle, and that no amount of gray sky could dampen it's majesty.

It was a gray day when it was photographed and we sat at a cafe right across the street and had lattes while we waited for the dreary weather to clear.

I hope that your days have been sunny and that all of your photos come out perfectly!

Phil Hardberger Park (formerly Voelcker Park), San Antonio

On a beautiful Winter Day, we took a walk in San Antonio's recently re-named , Phil Hardberger Park.  The park is 311 acres of nature in San Antonio's North Central, inside Loop 1604.

It was such a relaxing late morning, viewing the trees and birds as we wandered the pathways.  If you are a dog-lover, you will spot lots of furry friends being happily walked here. Be sure to bring your leash. The Park police will be patrolling to make sure that everyone can enjoy the park and stay safe!

New PGA Golf Courses open soon in San Antonio

The two new PGA courses are due to open for play January 22, 2010 are the AT&T Oaks Course and the AT&T Canyons course at the TPC San Antonio, which includes the world's largest Marriott Hotel and conference center.

TPC San Antonio

The Oaks course will host the Valero Texas Open from May 13-16th.  Designed by Greg Norman, with help from Sergio Garcia, the par 72, 7,435 yard course is expected to be very challenging, according to pros who have tested the course.

In an Express-News interview, Cameron Beckman commented that "You can hit a tee shot and never find your ball- I don't care how many spotters are out there".  Sounds tough- but in my limited golfing experience that would be normal.  I hit the local "duffer" course with an extra dozen golf balls (used, not new) to sacrifice to the 'golf gods' as penance for not taking the game too seriously.

Anyway- for really serious players and fans, the tournament play in San Antonio just got a lot more interesting!

Speechless Sunday in St. Thomas

It has been a long real estate day, and at the end of one of those, I always need a little extra visual escapism.  This beautiful sunset was as we were leaving the port of St. Thomas, USVI.

Especially when it is winter and during a wicked cold snap, I love to see photos of the places that we have been and the wonderful times that Steve and I have enjoyed.

I hope that during these chilly winter days, your heart ifs full of the wonderful days past and those yet to come.

Why Would You Name It That?

Often, while cruising the streets of San Antonio, I run across an unusual street name:

Dancing Bear (Somehow, I always think of it with an alternate spelling...)

Mustang Ranch (Where the working girls can be found?)

Dull Knife (As in, "My Boss lives on Dull Knife". Wouldn't that be so fun to say?)

I admit that I am easily entertained, but what possesses the people who name these streets?

Speechless Sunday

bird

At about 7am, I spotted this little gray bird sitting so quietly, long wings folded tightly against the chill of a winter morning.

I think that the thin pink and gray branches with the red and purple berries juxtaposed against the slightly textured coral stucco of the wall and the rough stacked stone made a beautiful composition.

All of that beauty, right outside the back door of my hotel.
