Spring Flowers

On a Saturday as we speed toward Spring, I love to dream of a new flower bed, full of bright colors, gorgeous foliage and the dark mulch that makes the blooms really "pop".  I love to imagine what varieties I will plant in my San Antonio garden as soon as it warms up a bit.  Spring, spring, won't you hurry!

If only they could be framed and last longer...

Alamo Ranch Riverside DR Horton Amentiy Center - San Antonio, Texas

We have some great Amenity Centers in the Alamo Ranch area in San Antonio, Texas (Culebra, outside of Loop 1604), where you can find new homes and new Northside ISD schools being built.  There are also some great re-sale homes available!

This show is from the DR Horton neighborhood of Riverstone at Alamo Ranch.  The Amenity Center is on the corner. diagonally across from the new Northside ISD "Westwinds Area" Elementary School, scheduled to be completed in 2011.

The Amenity Center includes 2 pools - one is a baby pool with a beach entry,  a playground, a BBQ pavilion, sports court, and ample park space for relaxation and play.  What a great palce to spend some free time!

Entry to the Garden Center, San Antonio, Texas

Last weekend, we were at The Garden Center.  Due to our recent cold snap, I had some questions about pruning my Purple Plum Trees, trimming my frostbitten Tropicals, and how far back I should cut the Euryps (big flowering shrub daises, similar to Marguerites), at our San Antonio home.

The nice people at The Garden Center were able to answer all of my questions:

  • It's OK to prune the small wood off the Plum - but use some sealant
  • Cut the Euryps back by half
  • Wait until we're sure that the weather is still warming before pruning the Tropicals, if I prune too early, they could be further damaged

If you have landscaping questions or need to replace plants in your San Antonio garden:

Parman Branch Library in Stone Oak, San Antonio

IT'S OFFICIAL!

The groundbreaking for the Parman Branch Library in Stone Oak was celebrated on Tuesday, January 12th.  The chairs were set out at the site and it was well-attended. (We were on our way to an appointment so we couldn't stop, and just had to drive right by!)

Parman Branch Library site Stone Oak San Antonio Texas

The Parman Branch Library to be located on Wilderness Oak, near the expanded Blanco Road, is scheduled to open in 2011 and will be 13,000 square feet.  Marmon Mok (honored with a 2009 Green Building Award by the City of San Antonio), is the architectural firm working on the library and it will be interesting to see how they plan to incorporate the site's beautiful views into the completed Parman Branch library

Nearby homeowners and book-lovers like me will be excited to discover what literary wonders lie within!

Check out our first post on the Parman Branch Library - Stone Oak for an alternate view of the site and additional information.

For the most current updates on the library, Parman Branch Library - Stone Oak to visit the library's official website.

Speechless Sunday - Very Early Spring

We were out today, running errands when we passed this little creek near the Sonoma Ranch area in Northwest San Antonio, TX.

It was so unexpectedly pretty to catch a glimpse of that tiny bit of blue water nearly hidden behind the brush of deciduous trees still winter-bare against the green of the cedar.

Very Early Spring

I hope that you had something beautiful in your Sunday.

Oh, My Deer

Oh my!  We were out photographing our new listing in Bandera (just outside San Antonio, Texas), and came across these fuzzy neighbors.

Nature certainly is perfect.  The camouflage of the deer in their natural environment makes it hard to even see them!

I have left the photo large just in case they are too hard to view.

I found 4 Deer

How many do you see?

(I'll tell you how many I counted if you run your mouse over the photo)

How to Train Ducks - Speechless Saturday

Today, we are having gorgeous weather in San Antonio.

The grass is starting to green (this is our dry and "cold" season and many grasses are dormant), and people are coming out to the parks to enjoy the beautiful weather.

This little girl and her bread are rapidly training some of the local ducks!

Scene in the Park

Look at her point.  Don't you wonder what she's telling them?

Friday Sunset

The sun is about to set on  our week.

Sunset over San Antonio

I have to say that it's been a good week, but very busy!

We have had new listings and are hopeful that we can get our Sellers all moved this Spring.  Buyers are deciding on neighborhoods and excited about their upcoming moves.

The weather has been beautiful the past few days and I am looking forward to a gorgeous weekend.  If you see us around town, we will be in jeans as we're working on our house in Stone Oak!

Steve and I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!
